POSITION: Part-time Communications Instructor 
DESCRIPTION: The Department of Communication and Theatre at Pacific Lutheran University is seeking applicants to teach our senior-level class in Public Relations Planning and Management in Fall semester 2009. 
The course description:COMA 461: Public Relations Planning and Management: Examination of public relations issues, such as campaign planning, issue management, crisis communication and global public relations. Integrates theoretical foundations and ethics. Focus on measurement and evaluation techniques. The course will be taught Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:40 to 5:25 p.m., beginning Wednesday, Sept. 9, and concluding Wednesday, Dec. 9, plus a two-hour final exam period on Wednesday, Dec. 16 from 3 to 4:50 p.m. 
QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate must have either an advanced degree (e.g., M.A.) in an appropriate discipline (e.g., communication, marketing, advertising) or professional experience in public relations equivalent to an advanced degree, in addition to a bachelor’s degree.

Community Initiatives Manager - Thurston Community Television.  First review of applications May 18, Open until Filled.

  The TCTV Community Initiatives Manager will be responsible for furthering our youth empowerment initiatives -- the Youth & Young Adult Media (YAYA Media) program,   the TCTV Young Producer’s Network and TCTV Youth Media Summer Camps--by managing and expanding the existing Youth Media programs and developing new ones. The Community Initiatives Manager will also design, implement and coordinate new initiative projects in response to community needs and issues, with empowerment, education, problem resolution and community building as the basis.  Community Initiatives may be short-term, single-focus projects, or long-term multi-issue collaborations. Successful community initiatives will use TCTV’s media education and production resources to:

   Create media products that address identified community issues

   Build partnerships with community organizations and agencies

   Enhance TCTV’s position in the community as a media leader

   Generate revenue to support the initiative project through underwriting, sponsorship and/or grant opportunities.

  The Community Initiatives Manager should have knowledge of media production, project planning and resource development. This position works collaboratively with other TCTV departments to meet project goals.

Essential Duties:

   Manages existing Youth and Young Adult Media (YAYA Media) programs and expands outreach to diverse youth audiences

   Plans, initiates and coordinates community focused initiatives; identifies, initiates, and maintains relationships with area nonprofit organizations and agencies that are appropriate partners in initiative projects

   Develops and monitors project budgets; works with Executive Director to identify potential funding sources for projects and works to secures grants, sponsorships, and underwriting as necessary

   Develops public relations, marketing strategies, and promotional materials for the community initiative projects

   Writes reports, contracts, correspondence as needed

   Recruits interns and volunteers to work within the department; when budget resources allow, hires departmental staff. Manages all departmental staff, volunteers and interns including scheduling, task assignment, and evaluation.

   Provides technical support and training for program/project development and implementation

   Works collaboratively with other TCTV departments to accomplish initiative goals.

Desired Qualifications:

  Experience in community and/or youth development   

  Skilled in organizational development and project management

  Supervisory experience with staff and volunteers

  Experience in film, multi-media or video production is essential; ability to determine appropriate media production tools, training, and techniques needed for initiative projects

  Ability to work independently and/or as part of a team in a creative environment

  Demonstrated success in fund raising, grant writing, or donor solicitation

  Ability to relate to and work with broad and varied populations

  Ability to interpret and apply policies and procedures in ambiguous situations.

  Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; comfortable speaking in public to small and large groups.

  Must be willing and available to work some evenings and weekends as projects require.

 

This is a full-time exempt position that reports directly to the Executive Director. Salary starts in the mid-30’s with employee’s medical, dental, vision, paid by TCTV. A matching retirement plan is available after one year of service. TCTV’s work environment is fun and casual with flexible work hours depending on individual project needs. SALARY RANGE: $3,400 to $4,160 per month

 

DESCRIPTION

Exeltech is searching for a dynamic, creative, goal-oriented Marketing Coordinator in our corporate Lacey office to join our growing team. Responsibilities will include developing cutting-edge proposals/qualifications, SF 330s and graphics; and assisting in implementing our marketing strategy, while meeting our standards for team work and excellence. This position reports to the Marketing Manager and works directly with our Marketing Coordinator and Graphic Designer.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Skills required include: excellent communication skills both written and presentation, above-average writing skills, ability to manage projects within tight deadlines, multitasking ability, and a positive attitude, while remaining focused on quality and customer service. This is a key position that works with our Marketing Manager to manage our proposal scheduling and delivery system as well as maintaining marketing systems for tracking data. Must have five to seven years of experience in deadline-driven work environment, preferably for the A/E marketplace. We also require this team member to possess in-depth knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite software. Degree in English or journalism preferred.
